Code of Conduct for K9 Handlers and Canines

Please make sure that you have a Rabies Vaccination certificate (or titer testing) for any K9s attending the Summit, and to have it available upon request.

Dogs MUST BE on leash AT ALL TIMES.  Also, please be mindful of the fact that our dogs are working dogs, and some may be reactive, so please don’t let your dog just run up on another dog while around camp.  Unless your dog is working an area problem, they must be on leash.

Please clean-up after your dog and dispose of all poop bags in an outdoor trash receptacle.

Please be aware that if your dog is observed demonstrating aggressive behavior toward a dog or person, you may be asked to remove the dog by the Summit staff and/or the facility and it may not be allowed at the conference. The facility may be obligated to ask you to remove the dog to protect the safety of both people and animals. Aggressive behavior is defined as a constellation of behaviors including:

  • Hard stares
  • Hackles up
  • Pursed lips
  • Growling
  • Lunging
  • Biting

Behaviors that may also lead to being asked to remove the dog are behaviors that may disrupt the facility’s ability to conduct business, such as uncontrolled barking, lunging and jumping on people, and bolting from the handler without the ability to be recalled.

Dogs are NOT allowed in any buildings or bathroom facilities unless they are a Service Dog (as defined by the ADA) – or unless designated a Pet Allowed Cabin (2 on site). Please be respectful of the facility. We are their guests, and we want to make sure we can utilize them again if necessary.

If you have an issue with dog safety, please bring it to the attention of any host team member – and we will address it immediately.
